BMW MOA Rally, Lima Ohio

Club members Tammy and Tommy took a trip to the International BMW Rally in Lima, Ohio. Attendance at the rally was 8,000+ registered motorcyclists riding over 5,200 motorcycles. For 4 days our residential address was the tent city in Beemerville. At the rally there was daily entertainment, lots of vendors, and lots of door prizes given away, including 3 motorcycles. Unfortunately, we didn't come home with any of the prizes.

We visited the AMA Heritage Museum in Pinkerington, OH where the main display, Motocross America, traced the history of that sport in America. On display were motorcycles and memorabilia from riders competing in the sport. There was also a special display titled BMW: Mastery of Speed tracing the lineage of BMW's sport models through rare motorcycles from the collection of Peter Nettesheim.

Since we were so close to one of the Great Lakes, we rode into Michigan to Sterling State Park where we waded in the water of Lake Erie. Of course, we did have to be careful when we passed the Snake Crossing sign on our way in and out of the park!

On the return trip we rode the northern part of the Natchez Trace from it's beginning south of Nashville, TN to Jackson MS.
